Year Four's Forest Adventure.

Year Four have been lucky enough to visit Bolderwood in the New Forest as part of their topic work on rainforests. It was a lovely sunny day and we did lots of activities to get to know the forest and the animals that lived there.

In the morning we looked for trees that matched the shape of the lines on our palms. We also collected small pieces of different plants to create our own collages of the colours that are found in the New Forest. We learnt how to put on special 'hoods of silence' that helped us to be very quiet in order to watch the insects that live on the forest floor.

After our packed lunch, the children had time to play in the forest and then we were lucky enough to see some deer from the viewing platform! We used mirrors, placed under our nose, to go on a tree top walk in the very tall trees. After that we looked at the different ways animals had adapted to live in the forest. Then we got a chance to create our own animals with special adaptations using pinecones and plasticine.
