The Choir 'all at sea!'

What an amazing day we have had! Mrs Mead, Mrs Mann, Mrs Cantlie and our Key Stage 2 choir boarded the Aurora cruise ship to sing to the passengers and crew on the Christmas Cruise.

We got to have a tour of the newly refurbished ship - we loved the swimming pools and theatre. Lunch onboard was amazing with lots of yummy treats for everyone.

We then sang Christmas songs on the steps of the atrium to an audience standing on all four levels of the ship.

I think this is a day we will remember for a long time. Choir - I am so proud of you!

Y3R's Class Assembly on Titanic

Year 3 have been learning all about Titanic, so they showed their fantastic knowledge during their class assembly. We had Irish dancing that could be seen in Third Class, superb projects and models, two of which are going to Sea City Museum itself! Thank you also, to all of the family and friends that came to support their class assembly, it was wonderful to see such an amazing turn out.

Year 3 Healthy Eating Challenge

Year 3 have been learning all about how to stay healthy. With our final focus on healthy eating, the children had a challenge to make a healthy balanced lunch using only a £5 budget. They had fantastic imaginations and made some fabulous creations. They certainly know what makes a healthy balanced lunch.

Winter Wonderland

In Year 1, we have spent 2 weeks designing and writing about our very own Winter Wonderlands. We are now making them using recycled materials that we brought in from home. Some of the Winter Wonderlands feature roller coasters, ice palaces, reindeer racing, snow man hotel and log cabins. We love winter!

Nativities

'One of the best parts of being a Governor is the opportunity it brings to attend a Nativity event at Christmas. I have thoroughly enjoyed 2 this year, having watched the Nursery & Reception children singing and acting early last week, and then KS1 Christmas Performance of the “Christmas Baubles” later in the week. Both events were delightful, with something for everyone to do- some excellent singing and speaking – and very good costumes – just what was needed to bring the Christmas Story to life and start the festive Season. Well done to all those who took part & also to Mrs Bullas and Mrs Mead and the rest of the staff who must all have been working so hard to get the shows working well. It is great to see the confidence of so many Children grow so that they can perform in public with smiles and clear voices. Thank you all of you….. now for KS2 this coming week!'

student teachers leave

We had a fun time with Miss Binns and Miss Robinson before they left.

Miss Binns and Miss Robinson are student teachers who helped the children in year 6 for a month.  They learnt what they have to do if the children are naughty which is getting a warning, then a strike!

They also taught us about Street Children because we were reading "The Garbage King" which is about a boy called Mamo who got sold to a farmer in Ethopia.

The students who came learnt how to use the ipads and how to communicate with the children by using the name sticks and by asking us to put up our hands..

At the end of the month, we all had a fun day by decorating stars and snowflakes in our own way. I thought the teachers were really fun, because they did really fun stuff.

KS1 Christmas Nativity Performance

Year 1 and 2 were very proud to present their Christmas show called 'Baubles' to the parents at Shirley Warren Primary School. Featuring all of the required parts of a show, the children acted, narrated and sang 7 songs. All the staff at Shirley warren are very proud of what they achieved. Well done KS1.

Teddy Bear's Hospital

Last week RG had an excellent afternoon at the teddy bears hospital! We were visited by medical students who did some activities with us about looking after our bodies and staying safe. They also made our poorly teddies feel better! We used the equipment to check how they were feeling and worked out what we could do to fix them. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and have learnt a lot.

Beaulieu Trip

Year 5 went to Beaulieu in the role of Victorian children looking for employment after leaving school aged 10. We explored around the motor museum and learnt about cars that were invented in the Victorian times. They could only go 2mph in town areas, which later got raised! We saw the great changes that the motor vehicle underwent and considered the industrial revolution. We also got to go into the Palace House and saw what it was like to be servants in Victorian times and even got to dress up. We had a fantastic time, and learnt lots and lots of things! The children were commended on their behaviour and their politeness. Please take the time to look through our slideshow at all the lovely photos we took. Well done year 5 and thank you to all our helpers!
