Safer Internet Day in 3C

We had lots of fun celebrating Safer Internet Day in 3C. We spoke about our personal and online identity. We also discussed how to stay safe online and recapped our E-safety guide- Lock it, Block it, Show it, Tell it! Then we made some presentations to inform others how to stay safe online.

E Safety Day in 3H

Today, 3H spent the morning discussing how to stay safe online. We spoke about our online identity and how we all have the right to be happy and safe when using devices and going online. After these discussions, we created story boards to show how we stay safe online. Some of us used Comic Life to create information posters about effective passwords.

E-Safety Day in Year 1

In Year 1 we have been reminding ourselves of our e-safety charter, discussing what each point means and the importance of e-safety .

Our motto is lock it, block it, show it, tell it.

We learnt about 'Smartie the Penguin' and his adventures whilst on his new computer. We helped him, at each stage, to make the right choice:
- tell your adult
- block the message from a stranger
- do not open pop-ups

We also learnt a new song to remind Smartie of how to behave and keep safe on the computer.

'Before you click, click, click
You need to think, think, think
Then tell someone.

Year 1 learn all about: Lock it, Block it, Show it, Tell it

Lock It, Block It, Show It, Tell It is a strategy with an easy to remember slogan to promote online safety to children and their parents.

Lock It

This is about keeping personal information secure: usernames, passwords and personal details.

Block It

This is about blocking rude or nasty messages. It's about blocking bad websites, not downloading anything you're unsure about, and not clicking on any links or pictures you don't know about.

Show It

This is about showing an adult if you come across anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or is inappropriate. This could be a website, a picture, a message or a video.

Tell It

This is about telling an adult if you feel you are being bullied or upset online.

Year 1 have thought up some actions to go alongside this slogan, to help them remember the rules of being safe online.
Lock it!

Block it!

Show it!

Tell it!

What is the internet?..

On 'Internet Safety day' 1L practised and recalled the meanings of: ‘Lock it, Block it, Show it, Tell it' when using a computer or tablet.

They discussed issues that can arise when playing games on their computers, tablets and at school. They agreed: they should not talk to strangers online, they do not buy things online without asking an adult first and they do not tell others their passwords.

Also they talked about and drew their answers to the question:
What does the internet look like?

Safer Internet Day 2019 - 1S

As part of our celebration of Safer Internet Day we decided to try and draw "The Internet." It soon became clear that "The Internet" meant different things to different people. Some of us thought we could use it to watch TV. Others thought we could use it to play games with our friends. A few suggested we could use it to send photographs or emails to people. We all knew it was something that we could use to communicate with each other. We also reminded ourselves of the rules about asking adults for permission and help when going on-line.  We just couldn't work out exactly what it was, so we decided to have a go at building our own.

First of all we made our own device such as a tablet, a phone, a games console, even washing machines and light bulbs. It's amazing what you can turn a paper cup into !

We spoke into our devices but soon realised there was no reply. We were all on our own and couldn't communicate with one another. A few of us decided to join all the devices on our own table together with string ( network cables)  and then we found we could talk to all the other devices on our table.

That was fine until we thought there might be interesting conversations going on at other tables. So, to find out what was going on around the whole room we connected all the devices on all the tables together with our string so that we could all communicate together.

Before long we had built our very own internet and had discovered that the internet is basically a lot of devices joined together by cables so that they can all speak to one another.

This also makes a lot of noise !!!

Next we're off to investigate the "magic" of Wi-Fi !

1S - Learning how to stay safe online

We have been learning alll about what to do to keep ourselves safe when we are online this week.
We decided we should only tell our passwords to an adult we trust and nobody else and Lock-It.
If anything pops up on screen that we are not sure about we should Block-It and Show -It to an adult.
If someone is being unkind to us we will Tell-It to someone we trust so that they can help us stay safe. We learned some actions to help us remember these important rules and then used an ipad application called Morfo to make some crazy faces with messages to remind us.

Ever wondered how safe you are online? If the answer is yes, check out Year 6's e-safety videos

Always remember to Lock it, Block it, Show it, Tell it!

3N Safer Internet Day

We learnt a lot on safer Internet day about the importance of being safe online and who we talk to on our favourite games that we like to play. We know that we should show our adults if anyone we don't know tries to speak to us and 'lock it, block it, show it, tell it'!

Safer Internet Day in 2S!

We had great fun yesterday learning all about connections online. How are we connected? Who to? We made a class 'web' of connections. Some of the people, places and things we were connected to linked to other people's plates, making an even bigger web! This is just like the internet. What fun we had!

Year 1 are being good friends on the internet.

On Safer Internet day Year 1 talked about using the internet safely whilst playing games or using You Tube, and if children saw anything scary, upsetting or unkind to...

Lock it, Block it, Show it, Tell it.

Ask your child to show you the actions to help them remember this.

The day's activities and discussions helped them analyse online behaviour.

So that they could identify the best ways that they could keep themselves safe when they are online.

Also they created a pledge of what they will do to be a good friend, on a puzzle piece.

Some suggestions from the children were to...
'Not laugh at others falling down'
'Be kind to our friends'
'Never say unkind words about people's work'

Year 6's Coding Conundrums!

Today, Year 6 got to grips with brand new coding software called Crumble. It is made up of the computer program as well as physical parts which all have to be wired correctly in order for our algorithms to work. It was quite fiddly and technical but everyone persevered and managed to at least program their sparkles to light up!
Some even managed to complete a traffic light sequence including multiple sparkles. Great effort!

3S' Safer Internet Day

Today, we started to explore the theme for Safer Internet Day 'Create, connect and show respect: A better internet starts with you' We watched a video, which told us all about sharing our personal information online. We thought the girl in the video made some very bad decisions and we thought of ways that we could have helped her if we were her friend. Then we completed a quiz in which we did really well! We completed a puzzle piece about how we would be a good friend and created a wristband of the good deed we were going to do today! We are SMART safe on the internet :)

2J Do Safer Internet Day!

This morning, we learned all about this year's theme for Safer Internet Day - "A Better Internet Starts With You."

We thought about how were connected to different places because this is a bit how the internet works. We used pictures, paper plates, drawings and lots and lots of wool. We are definitely connected in 2J!! After that, we made a promise about how we could be a good friend on the internet.

Year 6 e-safety week - Stop, Think, Act!

Last week was e-safety week and Year 6 quickly set to work thinking about problems that could arise on the Internet and what we could do to sort them out. Check out our videos - can you identify the problem and the solution?

Think about what problem is shown here. What could the solution be?

1L E-safety Week!

This week 1L discussed how to stay safe on computers at school and home.
We created posters to tell everyone about the main safety points they need to remember:
- Don't talk to strangers
- Don't tell people where your school is
- Don't tell people your personal information
- Remember to keep your passwords private
- If it doesn't feel right, don't do it
Most importantly we need to remember to: Lock it, Block it, Show it, Tell it!

E-Safety Week in Year 2

For E-Safety we have been thinking about keeping ourselves and our personal information private to make sure we stay safe on the internet. We learned how to make strong passwords and made posters explaining how to do it.

3N E-Safety Week Tellagami

We have been learning all about being safe on the internet this week. In particular, we have looked closely at what information we share on the web and what information we shouldn't. We know that we shouldn't give any personal information out online and we should never give anyone we don't know our passwords. We can tell a trusted adult our password so they can help keep us safe too.

Tellagamis in Year 3S

In year 3S, we have been using Tellagamis to encourage people to keep their passwords safe. We decided that children needed to not show anyone their password and make sure that they covered their password as they put it in .

Here is a picture of one of our Tellagami characters.
