Key Stage 1 Christmas Alien Dance

Our Key Stage 1 are imagining what our visiting alien from our Christmas Nativity might look like and move.  We drew pictures and shared ideas with our friends. We've also managed to include technical terms in our movement !

Parliament Week at Shirley Warren Primary school!

This week we have been celebrating democracy following an National Initiative called Parliament Week.  The idea is to show young people how a ballot box works and have them participate in a vote.

Mrs Mann asked the question: Do we want to buy equipment so that people can play Tag Rugby in the MUGA? This is an important question for our school because a lot of people like to play football in the MUGA and if Tag Rugby is introduced the rotas will have to change and there will be less time for football. So everyone in the school had to think carefully before they voted.

Here is a picture of Green Council putting their class votes in the ballot box.

After that, everyone in Green Council received a free badge, pen, balloon and stickers to take home.
It will take a little time for the votes to be counted. What do you think the results will be?

Celebrating All Different, All Equal - Anti Bullying week at Shirley Warren

Last week saw the annual nationwide focus on Anti-Bullying which many schools take part in.

In our school we invited parents in to help update our anti-bullying charter and to see the activities we were doing to help share the message, "All Different, All Equal".

We asked all children to draw round their hands and on one side write or draw what they felt was different about them and on the other side what was the same as others.

Green Council made some examples to show the school what to do and here are their hands.

We were so pleased that so many parents could join us and we are pleased that our children understand that although everyone is different, we all have equal rights.

Road Safety

To mark Road Safety Week, Nursery have been talking about staying safe near roads by holding an adult's hand, finding somewhere safe to cross and remembering to Stop, Look and Listen.

Here is our handprint poster we made to remind us 'We all hold hands!'

Y4L voyage to the Mary Rose

We had such a fantastic day: we experienced life on board the Mary Rose as both a crew member and as an officer; we navigated our ship and plotted a course to Portsmouth harbour and spent some time with Henry VIII!

We learnt so much about life on board the Mary Rose... Did you know that there was a law in Tudor times that only rich people could wear velvet? Look at our pictures to see who was a rich or poor Tudor in our class.

Zoolab Visit

We had a visit from Anna and some very strange creatures from Zoolab this week!

Anna showed us how to hold the animals without hurting them and reminded us to wash our hands after touching them.

Can you remember what the creatures were called and any of the interesting facts?

Take a trip with year 4 to Tudor Town...

In Year 4, we celebrated all of the incredibly hard work that the children have put in to researching, designing and creating their Tudor houses! We are so proud of their projects that we wanted to share them with you...

Zoolab in 6D

To kick-start our classification unit of Science work, we were lucky enough to be visited by Zoolab today. Anna brought in different creatures for us to look at, hold and classify. We learnt that there are two main types of creature: vertebrate and invertebrate. We even held a snake (well, those who dared!).
