Year 6 and the Winchester Students create amazing documentaries!

Today was the final culmination of this year's project between Winchester students and Shirley Warren Primary school.  Over the last few weeks, pupils from year 6 have been involved in working together to create news reports about their chosen animals. fIrst they worked on Google Docs to create a collaborative fact file.  Then the group designed their reports, using blue screen, music and other media techniques.
This group produced a report about turtles, including some very amusing turtle impressions!

We would like to thank the students and wish them well in their future teaching.

student teachers leave

We had a fun time with Miss Binns and Miss Robinson before they left.

Miss Binns and Miss Robinson are student teachers who helped the children in year 6 for a month.  They learnt what they have to do if the children are naughty which is getting a warning, then a strike!

They also taught us about Street Children because we were reading "The Garbage King" which is about a boy called Mamo who got sold to a farmer in Ethopia.

The students who came learnt how to use the ipads and how to communicate with the children by using the name sticks and by asking us to put up our hands..

At the end of the month, we all had a fun day by decorating stars and snowflakes in our own way. I thought the teachers were really fun, because they did really fun stuff.

guided reading with students

Year 6 had a brilliant time  doing guided reading with  more students from the Winchester University joining us to see how we do guided reading and helping us as well.

Some of us searched news papers to find out interesting questions about different  articles. I enjoyed finding out where to look in a news paper for different things like what the weather was like in Devon (100 mph wind) i am really glad it is not that windy here!
