Storytelling in Year 1

We have just started learning a new story in Year 1 called 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' Today we had a go at role playing the story with a friend. One person told the story and the other person acted out the caterpillar. We shared a few of these with the whole class and we all enjoyed listening to our friends!

Year 4K Maths

Year 4 have been adding and subtracting using formal written methods. We know it will help us to calculate efficiently and accurately. Using dienes helped us to understand what is happening when we take one number from another. We can explain our thinking to each other and organise our sums under place value headings! Well done Y4K!

Y4H in the library

Y4H had a trip to the library to have some lovely quiet time, so they could read their favourite books and explore how the library works.

Year 2D's class reward

In Year 2D, we earned a class reward in our first two weeks because we are incredible! Last week, we earned extra frogs on our class lily pad for lining up beautifully and walking to assembly so quietly that we had 3 comments about our lovely walking.

We had a vote, and decided that this time we would decorate some biscuits to take home. We had gingerbread men, some circle biscuits and some rectangle biscuits (perfect, since we've been learning about 2D shape)!

Here are some photos of us decorating biscuits and doing a wonderful job at it too - maybe we have some future contestants for the Great British Bake Off in this class.

Miss Derby and Mrs Croissant are very proud of the class for their fabulous behaviour, and Year 2D are already working hard towards their next class reward.

Guided Reading in Y3S

We have settled in really well in Y3S and this week we have been enjoying reading and looking through newspapers as part of our guided reading work. Whilst reading the newspapers we have been looking for our favourite fact or piece of information. Super work Y3S!

Y2F Class Reward

In Year 2F, we earned our class reward being complete superstars. We had a vote and we chose to bring our own toys in. We had great fun.

RRR in RG

Today in RG we have been learning about our rights. We have looked at the things we are entitled to like the right to play, the right to be the best that we can be and the right to good food, water and medicine when we are poorly.

We spoke about our responsibilities to make sure we all get them such as trying our best, sharing with friends and being kind. Then we learnt that the grown ups have responsibilities too like planning learning that is fun and challenging and teaching us how to be good friends.

Everybody in RG (even the grown ups!) have used our fingerprints to promise to stick to our responsibilities so we all get our rights. What a good job!

Spooky happenings in Year 1!

We had Plan, Do and Review this afternoon in Year 1. Some children planned to go to the making area and make masks... Miss Jones definitely hadn't prepared herself to be scared by two vampires and a zombie!!!

We have had our very first phonics session this morning. We played 'listening games' in small groups.

Family FUNS Coffee Morning

RG's wonderful writers!

This week in Reception we have been learning how to be a wonderful writer. We have been perfecting our pinchy grip and making sure we are sat nicely at the table to help us write. We have used our pencils to make lots of different shapes such as lines, zig zags and curves that will help us when we begin to learn our letter sounds! Next week we will begin our Writer's Workshop sessions to practise these skills.

Plan, Do, Review in Year 2!

Today in Year 2, we had a fantastic Plan, Do, Review session. We are enjoying having both classes doing PDR at the same time, as it means we get to do different things and make new friends!

We had a choice of painting, making, writing, Playdoh, reading, construction or computers - what a lot of choices! Have a look at some of the things we planned and made.

We have settled in very well to Year 2 and have already done some fantastic work.

Drumming Assembly

First days of Reception

We have had a very busy first week at school. There is so much to do, learn and enjoy. We are doing so well with settling into the new classroom, the routine and expectations. We have practised the 'class rules': good sitting and listening, waiting for the person to finish talking before we say anything, no running indoors, using indoor voices and lining up during Circle time. Mrs Smith, Mrs Coak and Mrs Davis are very proud of us.

Music in RS

We have had our very first music lesson with Mrs Bullas in Reception and as you can see we had lots of fun singing and dancing.

RG's first week

We have had a lovely first week settling into the new school in Reception. The children have been getting to know the classroom and the routines and have had lots of fun discovering all the toys we have! We have been having circle time sessions to get to know our new friends and we are looking forward to another busy week!

Starting The Year Safely with Hampshire Fire and Rescue!

Today Hampshire Fire and Rescue came to years 5 and 6 to remind us all about staying safe when we are walking (pedestrians) and cycling.  These photos show some children finding out what was wrong with the bikes before fixing them.

One pupil in year 6 said, "Today we are learning to solve problems that are found in bikes. We found out that the brakes were too loose. The tyre wasn't pumped up properly. It needs a new tyre, maybe an inner tube."

Can you remember which letter we used to check?

We also tried on some cycling clothes.
Can you spot which items we have added to make us more visible?
