Creating mountains in Year 6!

Year 6 have been learning about how mountains are formed around the world. Did you know that they can be formed in five different ways? These are fold, fault block, plateau, dome and volcanic formations.

We pushed two folders together. These represented the tectonic plates that make up the Earth's crust. The towel represented the land which folds up, creating fold mountains. The Canadian Rockies and the Alps are example of fold mountains!
