Magic Mark Making!

The children new to school in Reception have settled in really well over the last few weeks. Before we can begin our Phonics lessons we need to play lots of listening games and get excited about mark making.

The children have loved making their own mud paint and using this to create designs. They have painted shapes and even written secret messages!

They are also showing great skill in drawing and colouring which is going to help them be the best writers.

Amazing home learning about The Great Fire of London.

1L have not only been enthusiastic in class learning all about the events of The Great Fire of London, but they have also been busy learning about it at home.

In the classroom there are now lots of pictures, timelines, facts, posters, 3D buildings, books and much more, on display, that 1L have produced at home.

Thank you 1L for always trying your hardest and producing amazing work and thank you parents for supporting their learning :) This really is a great topic!

1S are Building Surveyors !!

Little Pig 1 was so excited when he received the pictures of the houses 1S built that he wrote back asking for a bit more information to help him and his brother choose which house would keep them safe. He wanted to know the materials each house was made of and why the properties of those materials would help keep him safe and dry.

We discovered that building surveyors help people by writing reports for houses advising what materials they are made of, if they are safe and how they could be improved. So, armed with our safety jackets and clipboards, we made notes as we investigated each of the houses Little Pig 1 was interested in to help us decide which house would be most suitable. After this we chose the house we thought would keep the pigs safe and wrote to them explaining why.

2S Class assembly!

2S gave an amazing performance today for their class assembly! We crammed in loads of information that we've learnt about Florence Nightingale. There were some very clever nurses in Southampton General who told the story of Scutari Hospital in the Crimean War. Some children also showed off their super writing in role as Billy, a soldier who was treated by Florence Nightingale. Here's us doing a fantastic job!

If you want to sing along with us and hear the song we sang, click here!

Well done 2S, I'm so proud of you :)!

2S Letters to Father Christmas!

This week, we have been getting into the Christmas spirit, and have written to Santa! We asked for things we would like, and told him where he could find his mince pie and carrots for the reindeer. Everyone has been very good this year, so we’re sure he’ll visit. Hopefully Santa will write back... Fingers crossed!

The Gunpowder Plot in Year 2!

We have done lots of work today all about the Gunpowder Plot and how we celebrate Bonfire night. We have had some serious fun finding out about a man called Guy Fawkes! We know that he made an unkind plan to kill King James, but before long, he got caught by the King's guards. We have done some acting, writing and all sorts of creative making and painting. We hope you like our pictures and enjoy seeing some fireworks this weekend!

Book Making Y4K

Year 4 have finished their Tudor stories! We took our time editing and re-drafting, just like real authors. We are now in the process of making them into books, binding the papers together using saddle-stitch. Some of us have already finished and took time to read them to each other.

Y4K Sea Monsters...

Year 4 have written descriptions of Tudor sea monsters. We had to make them really detailed so that our friends could create an illustration using our descriptive writing.

Well done for some really detailed writing and drawing!
