Anti-Bullying Week in Year 1

All of last week Year 1 discussed and highlighted what bullying is and all together we created an 'Anti-bullying Charter' so that we can all know how to be kind and feel safe at school.

Year 1 on Friday wrote on their jigsaw pieces what they liked about themselves and what they liked to do. Then they found others in the class who has similar likes to them and linked the puzzles together.

We also discussed that it is okay to have different likes and dislikes, we can still all play and build friendships.

Friendship in Reception

This week we have had some lovely coloured string added to our making tables. We are following the children’s interests in making friendship bracelets. Yesterday the children asked for adults to plait them for them but today they are trying themselves! It is a great activity for developing our fine motor skills and perseverance as it is a tricky job but they’re doing fantastic! This also fits in well with anit-bullying week so we have been using this as an opportunity to talk about what a good friend looks likein Reception.

Pupil Voice - Writer's Workshop

Thank your friends for what they've made,
Stand up for each other and just be brave.

Even when they split apart,
Just love them with all your heart.

Make the world all happy and true
Stop bullying, the world will split into two.

Punching, kicking is so bad,
It can hurt people's feelings. it can make them sad.

By C in Year 6

In Writer's Workshop pupils can write and publish whatever writing they like.
I was really pleased to see pupils choosing to write about British Values and  Respecting the Rights of others, which is what we are trying to encourage throughout all areas of learning. Thank you for letting me publish this, C!

Anti-bullying week

This week has been anti-bullying week. In year 5 we looked into what bullying was and what we could do if we saw bullying or were being bullied ourselves. We also coloured in our 'Send All My Friends to School' children. These are pictured below. Well done year 5, they look great!
