RG are amazing artists!

Look at the amazing art we have done in RG! Lots of us worked together to produce one large piece of art that we are very proud of. We showed excellent skills in teamwork and thought hard about using different medias to make our dinosaur. Well done everybody!

Dance Mats!

All of yesterday and today the Solent Sports Partnership have been in school with their dance mats. These are the photos from Year 5's session. We had some superstars however Miss White and Miss Hogan managed to beat the children a couple of times!

Thermal Conductivity!

Year 5 have been carrying out experiments into thermal conductivity. They planned their experiment, looking at control, dependent and independent variables. They had a lot of fun setting up the experiment and recording the results. Next week we will be putting the results into graphs. Well done Year 5, keep up the good work!

Key Stage 1 and 2 Intra and Inter Competitions for Children and Staff.

Here are our children and staff having fun on the Solent Sports Partnership dance mats.

Chopping, Peeling, Cutting, Eating and Writing!

As part of instruction writing in Literacy, Year 2 have been making and eating fruit salads.

Year 3 Krindlekrax News

Year 3 have been reading a new book in Literacy "Krindlekrax" by Philip Ridley. We have been looking carefully at the characters as we wanted to get to know them better. To do this we did some hot seating with the wanna be hero, Ruskin, and the mean boy who always smashes windows on Lizard Street, Elvis. Elvis always wears an American football shirt, as you can see in the picture they really got into character.

They will be using their knowledge and understanding of the characters and story to write a newspaper article on Krindlekrax and after this, a story...stay tuned for further Krindlekrax news!

Year 2 Multiplication

This week year 2 have been learning a variety of strategies to solve multiplication challenges.

Our Senses

This week in Nursery we have been talking about our 5 senses and what part of the body we use to see, hear, touch, smell and taste.  The children had fun exploring different objects using their senses and talk about what they like and dislike.  Why not go on a senses walk when you're out and about at the weekend?

Year 2 Get Rapping!

Year 2 have written and composed their own raps to tell the story of Cinderella. Check out the fast lyrics and the funky drumbeat. We used Garageband to make our recording and played glockenspiels to add to our piece. Why not have a go at creating your own raps?

Play dough madness

On 23rd of January year 6 (with clever precision) made different coloured play dough.
Also it was year 6's class reward for being sensible in school.

As you can see in this photo 2 people are making Crimson play dough. We needed to use instructions which had all the units of measurement which we have used recently. We needed to use millilitres, grams and teaspoons. We had to double instructions to make it bigger.

Also, we needed to use jugs, bowls, spoons, food colouring or dye.  We needed 80mls of water, 3 teaspoons of oil and 48g of salt. As soon as the mixture was combined, we poured the mixture onto the table with some flour on it and then we kneaded it for 5-8 minutes so it's easier to use and not sticky.

What do you think we will use our play dough  for geography for?
We don't know yet so post your ideas here!!

Year 6 Our Heart Rate

These past weeks my class Y6L have been testing our heart rates in science.

In the bottom playground we have been exercising and exercising. We were doing it to test our heart rate. We wanted to find out what out heart rate is resting and after a few minutes testing it after we have exercised.

a heart

We predicted that our heart rate would go up and then down because the more exercise you do, the higher the heart rate goes.

When we were doing our warm up our heart rate started with an average heart beat but when we started walking it got quicker and quicker and when we started running and jogging out heart rate got up to a very fast speed and once we were finished jogging around we tested our heart rate and we jotted them down in our science books and we all did our cool down together. We did stretches, breathing lightly in and out. Then we tested our heart rate one more time and our heart beat got slower and slower each time we recorded it.

E-safety.

Year 5 are learning about cyber-bullying. They have created a poster that informs people about what cyber-bullying is, and what somebody could do if they feel they are being cyber-bullied. They used various programs to make their posters, but they all looked great! The photo below shows just some of the children's fantastic work!

Stormbreaker

Stormbreaker is a really good book and a really brilliant film too.

We have been learning about it in year six.

Alex Rider, who is an s.a.s agent, has to save the world in nineteen minutes
by hacking the storm breaker, a machine that all you have to do is imagine some where or some one that you want to be with and you will be there, or with them.

The story takes place in London in modern day.

His uncle gets shot in the film but he gets hit by a lorry in the book.

In literacy we have been making a profile about Alex Rider on the i pads using comic life.

Measuring in RG

This week in RG we have started learning about our new topic - dinosaurs. We found a life size dinosaur footprint which was very exciting! We measured it with our shoes and found the dinosaur foot print was longer than 8 of our shoes! We then measured our feet with cubes and compared lengths to see who had the longest and shortest feet.

Year One Plan, Do, Review

In Year One we have started looking at Traditional Tales in Literacy. So far, we have looked at The Gingerbread Man, The Three Billy Goats Gruff and Jack and the Beanstalk. In Plan, Do, Review today some children have been role playing Jack and the Beanstalk. Here we have the cow, cheeky Jack and the very scary Giant!

Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

Our current theme is 'All About Me'.  Today in music we had great fun singing and doing the actions to Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. We then thought about other actions we could do using our bodies.
