1S - Learning how to stay safe online

We have been learning alll about what to do to keep ourselves safe when we are online this week.
We decided we should only tell our passwords to an adult we trust and nobody else and Lock-It.
If anything pops up on screen that we are not sure about we should Block-It and Show -It to an adult.
If someone is being unkind to us we will Tell-It to someone we trust so that they can help us stay safe. We learned some actions to help us remember these important rules and then used an ipad application called Morfo to make some crazy faces with messages to remind us.

Family Learning in 1S

The children in 1S had a fantastic time showing their parents what they have been learning this half term.We have been learning about materials and traditional tales. It has been a busy few weeks. We have enjoyed baking gingerbread men and writing instructions for Mrs Mann. We have created character descriptions for our Wanted Posters to help catch The Big Bad Wolf and designed new homes to keep The Three Little Pigs safe.

We hope you all enjoyed sharing our learning with us!

We have been playing beats and rhythms and composing our own drumming pieces. Parents came and joined us for a family learning drumming session which we all really enjoyed!

Celebrating All Different, All Equal - Anti Bullying week at Shirley Warren

Last week saw the annual nationwide focus on Anti-Bullying which many schools take part in.

In our school we invited parents in to help update our anti-bullying charter and to see the activities we were doing to help share the message, "All Different, All Equal".

We asked all children to draw round their hands and on one side write or draw what they felt was different about them and on the other side what was the same as others.

Green Council made some examples to show the school what to do and here are their hands.

We were so pleased that so many parents could join us and we are pleased that our children understand that although everyone is different, we all have equal rights.

1S - Healthy Snack Week

This week in Year 1 we have had great fun planning and making our healthy snacks. To begin the week we had a discussion about what foods we could use to make a healthy snack. We decided that bananas, strawberries, pineapple, grapes and oranges would be ideal. We then had to plan and design our kebabs deciding what tools we would need, which fruits we would choose and what safety instructions we should follow.

Today was the fun part. We had the chance to make and taste our delicious treats. We also invited our families in to help with the tasting and to talk them through how we had designed our snacks. They all looked very tasty!!!
