Year 1 have been amazing readers this week!

Year 1 excitedly had their first dips in the treasure chest this Friday, and grabbed a prize, as a reward for reading 5 times (or more) this week.

All week they have been reading with their adults and receiving DOJO points each time they read.

Well done Year 1, keep up the awesome reading!

HOGWARTS COMES TO YEAR 3 

Year 3 had a fabulous day dressing up as witches and wizards, making wands and potions! Tomorrow's job is to write the spells to go with the potions... beware! 

World Book Day in Year 1

We had a great day dressed up as characters from our favourite books.

We were lucky to have Year 2 join us and read their favourite books to us :)

Y4 Musical Storytelling

To celebrate National Storytelling Week, Year 4 told the story of Baba Yaga using rhythm and song.

The story was a bit creepy and scary but we really liked it!

A visitor arrives in Year 1. What is his story?...

Today we had a visitor in year 1!!..

What was his name? Fred, Zac, Jack, Tiger?

Where has he been? The forest, an aeroplane, on holiday, looking for the end of the rainbow?

What has happened? He has lost his camera, he has lost is family, he is going on holiday?

These were just a few of the ideas from Year 1, about the bear, using the clues they found and their imagination :) It sounds like he had a great adventure!

They were all so enthusiastic about the bear and what he had been up to, that we just had to write a super story all about him.

Well done Year 1, I cant wait to read all your stories!

Year 1 smash challenge 2!!!

In Y1J we've had a bit of head start on sports challenge 2... We've already had a go at this yoga before, so we are really really good at it! The lady Jamie tells lovely stories whilst we do yoga moves. It's so much fun! If you want to try this yoga at home, go into YouTube and type in 'Cosmic Yoga'. 

No Pens Wednesday in Year 1!

On 'No Pens Wednesday' last week, we role played our 'Very Hungry Something' stories that we were starting to plan. This helped us to write our stories following the pattern of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We had a great time! 

Storytelling in Year 1

We have just started learning a new story in Year 1 called 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' Today we had a go at role playing the story with a friend. One person told the story and the other person acted out the caterpillar. We shared a few of these with the whole class and we all enjoyed listening to our friends! 

Wood mill adventure

For part of Year 6's SAT's  we  had to use the experiences from our Wood mill camping trip in a adventure story we had to write we had to include the activities of:Tunneling, Rock climbing,Raft building or Archery. For some of us it was a real challenge to include everything to get our levels for when we move up to secondary school.First we used a story mountain to plan it but then we wrote it on google docs and if we did that we could change it round and have the beginning somewhere else.If our story is successful then we will achieve good levels for our SAT's.We all hope all of our levels are good for all of our tests that we have successfully completed.

My story was about a family and two girls called Jennifer and Lucy.  In the middle of the night they heard howling and scratching on the side of their tent and found an owl; so they followed it and got on a neglected canoe. But they capsized!  They got split up and Lucy couldn't swim.  Jennifer tried looking for her but she couldn't find her.  She ran back to the camp and called the mum and dad and they found her clinging onto a branch so they helped her out.

Storytelling in Reception

RS had the exciting opportunity to listen to the story of The Enormous Turnip told by Chris Thomas. The children listened very carefully and enjoyed joining in.
